Grantmaking Priorities and Grant Cycles

The Farmington Bank Community Foundation understands that economic mobility is a continuum. We fund nonprofits that support individuals and families to move along the continuum from surviving towards striving, and hopefully to a place where they are ultimately thriving. The Foundation accepts applications through our online grant portal. In each cycle, the Foundation will consider requests related to one or more specific funding priorities, as noted below. Requests for funding outside of that cycle’s funding priorities will generally not be reviewed unless there has been a prior conversation with staff.  All applications are due by 11:59 p.m. on the due date.

The Foundation has two grant cycles each year:

Cycle One (primary cycle)– The Foundation accepts applications from organizations working in the SURVIVING part of the economic mobility continuum to provide a social safety net and stability to individuals and families. This includes access to food, housing, health, mental health and other basic human needs. Grants are made across our geographic focus.

Cycle One application period is March 1-April 15. Decisions are made by the end of June.

Cycle Two (secondary cycle)- The Foundation offers a second grant cycle, accepting applications from organizations working in the STRIVING part of the economic mobility continuum to provide support to individuals and families that are building skills and working towards their personal version of a good life. This includes various educational and career development programs and other programs focused on economic mobility. Grants in New Britain, Bristol, and Farmington Valley will receive priority consideration.

Cycle Two application period is September 1 – October 15. Decisions are made by the end of December.

Please reach out to fbcf@fbcfct.org if you have questions regarding the grant cycles or priorities noted above.
